Re-Viving Lives Counseling Health Policy:

Since the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, Re-Viving Lives Counseling sees clients for in-person or virtual sessions. Currently, new clients are required to sign a form consenting to occasional health screenings that might be required before an in-person session.

Telehealth (video counseling via a secure, HIPPA- compliant Simple Practice App for phone/ tablet/ laptop/ computer) is available for clients (within Texas) who prefer counseling through this method or for any client who does not pass the health screening for an in-person session.

When we do meet in person, chairs that clients and I sit in continue to be spaced further apart. Masks are no longer required in the office, but please feel free to wear one or request that I wear one if that makes you more comfortable.

I will continue to be informed about COVID-19 and communicate with clients of any policy changes.

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Your health, safety, and comfort are my priority!

How do I know I need counseling?

If you are a girl or woman age 11 + and are looking for help in the areas of anxiety, OCD, spiritual scrupulosity, spiritual direction/ spiritual warfare, depression, self-harm, pornography, certain kinds of grief, singleness, relationships (family, friendships, dating, roommates, & bullying), church hurt, boundaries, emotional support for chronic health conditions, or care for yourself as a caretaker (mom, nurse, doctor, counselor, social worker, teacher, ministry, etc.…), you are in the right place!

You may also just be going through a life transition or a new life season and need some support or simply need a safe space to “let your hair down.” I look forward to creating a safe place for you to be able to take a breath as well as to be able to grow and move forward in your life.

What do you refer out?

Those seeking counseling specifically for sexual abuse, couples counseling, divorce, domestic violence, grief for loss of spouse/ child, addictions, eating disorders, certain kinds of trauma, certain child or teen severe behavioral issues, play therapy, or certain severe personality/mood disorders are all referred out as well as any males seeking counseling.

If you are very uncertain about if what you are experiencing falls into these referred out categories or not or need help connecting with resources or other local professional counselors that DO specialize in these areas, I will email you back within approximately 3 business days to help you discern this.

Do I need to be “spiritual” to receive your counseling?

Wherever you are spiritually is where I will always meet you! You can be neutral, opposed to Christianity, deeply Christian, of a different faith, spiritually seeking, or anything in-between. I long to be YOUR safe place!

How often do I need counseling?

That depends on you! You will get out of this process what YOU put into it and what YOU choose to do with it outside of session time.

Ideally, I recommend setting up weekly sessions for the first 3-4 weeks of counseling in order to help establish your safe space and beginning to get traction in understanding and meeting your goals. At this point, we can continue to discuss how often you need to meet with me to continue to progress in your goals. As everyone has different time/ financial needs, know that I am eager to meet with you at a variety of paces and capacities.

I recommend a minimum of approximately 8 sessions to realistically see any lasting progress or stability in any area in counseling. (The first two sessions are usually intake, getting to know you and your goals, developing your safe space, etc…).

Clients typically see me for anywhere from 10-30 + sessions, and some clients will chose to continue to do “check ins” on a longer-term basis.

I love to both always have my door open to you as an option as well as to celebrate when you graduate from counseling! We are partners in this process- tell me how to best serve YOU!

How much do you charge?

GOOD FAITH POLICY:
A 2021 Federal law was passed to provide transparency to clients prior to receiving medical services, and psychotherapy services were included in this law. For more information, please refer to the following link: http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Since my practice is out-of-network and you pay for sessions as you receive them, there will be no surprises in terms of the cost of therapy.

You are free to terminate therapy at any time. As your therapist, I will collaborate with you about your sessions, their frequency, other ways to support your progress outside of therapy, goals for treatment, progress in reaching your goals, unforeseen issues that may arise that could impact your length of treatment, referrals for other services, etc.

FEES:

FREE initial 15 minutes phone consultation BEFORE the first session (if you are looking into potential counseling within my specialties).

$185 75-90 min initial intake session for new clients.

$135 per 50 minute regular session.

$165 per 75 min extended session post first session (upon request or therapist recommendation).

Meetings or appointments that are requested by the client (i.e., phone call to psychiatrist, collaboration with other therapist, etc.) that exceed 15 minutes will be charged a fee of $135 per 50 minute hour.  Costs will be discussed in advance and an estimate will be provided either verbally or in writing.

I DO NOT TAKE INSURANCE. (See more information below on how to navigate that.)

I accept cash, checks, all major credit cards, and most health savings account cards.

Sometimes churches supplement or help pay for a certain amount of sessions of their members’ counseling when asked by the member if the church has a process for this. I have a form for you that you can take to your church to ask about financial assistance.

Occasionally I will have a slot open for sliding scale rate ONCE insurance/ other aid has been explored, especially for young adult clients (ie college aged +). IF there is availability, sliding scale slots only available for certain times of the day.

Please keep in mind what goes into your counseling fee: your hour with your counselor, the work outside of your session that your counselor does to serve YOU, the years of education and training required, as well as what your counselor is currently charged to run a professional counseling practice (licensure, CEUS, office rent, business taxes, etc.) that serves all clients with excellence.

Do you take my insurance?

While I do not personally file with insurance, you may contact your insurance to ask about potential coverage for “out-of-network'‘ services. A superbill for insurance reimbursement is available upon request.

Please contact your HMO or health insurance plan to learn more about what YOUR plan covers. It is in your best interest to learn about this in the beginning stages of seeking counseling.

Below are some questions that are helpful to ask your insurance:

  • Do my insurance benefits include mental health services?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session for an out-of-network provider?

  • What are the codes required that I need to ask my therapist to put on a receipt or superbill so that I can take that information to my insurance to seek reimbursement?

  • Will I be required to pay a copay?

  • Is there a limit to the number of sessions per year my plan covers?

  • What is my deductible?

  • Do I need to get approval from my primary care physician?

When do you offer appointments?

I offer appointments on weekdays with the latest appointment slot at 5:00pm. With my current hybrid schedule, I see clients in-person on certain days.

IF there is availability (see above), sliding scale slots only open for certain times of the day.

What if I need to cancel?

Please notify me at least 24 hours in advance if you can’t make your appointment. If you miss your appointment and fail to notify me, you will be billed for the full cost of the session. Thank you for your consideration!

Do you offer other services?

I can speak at a large group or offer a workshop/ small group experience in various mental health or church settings on these topics: anxiety, OCD, spiritual scrupulosity, singleness and sexuality, mental health for young adults, emotional support for chronic health conditions, and parenting teen girls (fees vary).

Ask me for more information if you are interested in my speaking on these topics (or have other topics that you might be interested in my speaking on!)

I also offer consultations for church staff and therapists on the topic of OCD & spiritual scrupulosity (fees vary).
